

Dr. Mello received his accreditation for dental implants through the American Academy of Implant Dentistry in 1983 and has been practicing dental implants since 1977. Currently, he does all phases of general and implant dentistry. Dr. Mello is a member of the American Dental Society, the NC State Dental Society, the Charlotte Dental Society, the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and the Academy of General Dentistry. He is also a founding member and Past President of the Dental Implant Associates of NC; formed in 1980 as a subchapter of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. In addition, Dr. Mello has taught general dentistry at Carolinas Medical Center in the General Practice Residency Program since 1986 and the implant side since 2000. He's also been the recipient of the Outstanding Teacher award five times. Dr. Mello has a deep concern for his patient's general and cosmetic dental needs but at the same time has an equal passion for his family and hobbies. He has been married since 1973 to his wife, Karen and together, they are the parents of three children and four grandchildren. Swimming, sailing, scuba diving, cycling, and pottery are activities that Dr. Mello and his family enjoy together.

Dr. Van Lanen is a general dentist who has also been doing orthodontics since 1983. He was the first general practice dentist in Charlotte authorized to prescribe the Invisalign clear tray orthodontic system. Specializing in both straight wire and tip edge techniques, he is a member of the American Orthodontic Society, the American Academy of GP Orthodontics and the International Association of Orthodontics. In addition, he is also a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Charlotte Dental Society, and the North Carolina Dental Society. A former college athlete, Dr. Van Lanen is married with two children and enjoys golf and coaching youth basketball.
